Many people consider Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving Day) to be when the Christmas shopping season starts. Countless stores across the country will start their special pre-Christmas sales on Black Friday (November 29, 2013), but several major retailers are starting their sales early this year. They will actually be open on Thanksgiving Day itself. Some will open Thanksgiving morning, while others will begin their sales that evening. Note that not every store in a chain necessarily keeps the same schedule, so check your local store using the links below.
Best Buy will be open on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday) starting at 6:00 P.M.
Kmart will open even earlier, starting at 6:00 A.M. on Thanksgiving morning.
Macy's will be open on Thanksgiving Day, but it won't open its doors until 8:00 P.M. that evening. For you history buffs, this is the first time Macy's has ever been open on Thanksgiving.
Kohl's will also open on Thanksgiving for the first time in its history this year, with an 8:00 P.M. start time.
Sears will open on the Thursday before Black Friday at 8:00 P.M.
Toys "R" Us pushes the envelope even further, beginning its Black Friday Christmas sale at 5:00 P.M. on Turkey Day (Thursday).
J.C. Penney kicks off a 25 hour long Black Friday sale starting at 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
Walmart has not released its Thanksgiving hours yet, but I have included a link to their site so you can check your local store hours as they are made public.
