Track Santa

One of the places that will be open on Christmas Eve and well into Christmas Morning is NORAD, using jets, radar and state of the art technology to track Santa Claus on his gift giving journey. There's even a Santa's Activity Page and downloadable mobile apps on their website with fun things to do for the kids (of all ages) to play with as they wait for Santa's arrival.

Update #1: The official 2013 NORAD countdown to Santa's launch will be on Sunday, December 1st!

Update #2: It has been reported that Santa's military escorts this year will include both the F-15 and the F-16. Air Force F-15 Eagles are tactical fighters equipped with Doppler radar. Capable of Mach 2.5 (nearly 1900 miles per hour), the Eagle is almost as fast as Santa's sleigh. F-16 Fighting Falcons are also used to escort Santa and his reindeer over American soil. The advantages of an F-16 for tracking Santa Claus in flight are the Falcon's 2,000 mile flying range and the fighter's bubble canopy that allows pilots better visual contact.

If anyone has information on Santa's escort aircraft in other countries, please post them here.
