Last year there were McDonald's restaurants open here and there on Christmas Day, but you really had to look to find an open one. This year is going to be different. Most McDonald's were open on Thanksgiving in 2012, and the customers showed up big time. As a result, the McDonald's corporate offices sent a letter to thousands of their franchise restaurants urging them to stay open for Christmas. This year it should be easy to find an open McDonald's nearby.

By the way, Ad Age is reporting that some McDonald's employees are being asked to work on Christmas without overtime pay. If you have the Christmas spirit in you, please consider leaving the staff a tip when you get your order.

Dynasty Buffet, Davenport, Iowa

Track Santa 2013
One of the places that will be open on Christmas Eve and well into Christmas Morning is NORAD, using jets, radar and state of the art technology to track Santa Claus on his gift giving journey. There's even a Santa's Activity Page and downloadable mobile apps on their website with fun things to do for the kids (of all ages) to play with as they wait for Santa's arrival.
